All I want for Christmas is . . . . .
A college scholarship for junior . . . . .
Seriously, anyone getting geared up for the upcoming season, guys and girls, and who's going through the whole college recruiting process too?

I have a jr. also, and I know that there's a long way to go. Get ready for one of those chess matches without a timer. Best of luck.
I wonder if keepers have an advantage or a disadvantage over the field players in the college recruiting process. Most keepers I know are a little
zanny, and I say this as a former hockey goalie. I mean, there's so much pressure when your the last one standing on defense...it seems like it's all
on your shoulders.
And pressure, that's what the road looks like ahead. " I havent seen you play yet, but I'll see you at the next tourney". Come on coach, does
everything hinge on one weekend? What if I come down with and injury or bad cold right before the tournament. (very likely this time of year)How about
showing up for at least three games when I don't know your watching.

The keeper position is easier to quantify for the potential school.
Look at the rosters over the years and see if the coach recruits in groups, one at a time, do they carry multiples and are they spread out?
For your player, look at if they picked up one in the previous year, or years and how do their credentials stack up?
We've eliminated 2 schools solely on the fact that they have either 2 current freshman or an incoming 2010 or 2011 already committed. Several others
are still options because they haven't picked up anyone in those last two years.
Our club is picking the showcases, but we'll also be playing school ball alongside club all during the spring, so the chances for coaches to come
watch, unannounced, is better.

Straight up...
No promises.
If you are in the top 11 you will start. If you are not, you won't. If you don't play after several games, we may reshirt you. You could play in one
game and no others. Again, no promises. We may move you to another position depending on our needs and your developement.

Yep. But it depends on the goals of the program I guess. Three year starters in some programs may sit the bench their senior year if a bright new star
arrives.

Another factor is the stability of the coaching staff. Is it a program that regularly "graduates" assistants to other programs, or routinely turns
over the HC every 3 to 4 years?

Richmond has a first year coach, Peay, a star at UVa in the early 90's.
Clemson and VT have new coaches. But I see where Hindson is gone, which explains a bunch of "no comments" to possible recruits.

Clemson's once-proud program has taken several body blows the last few years and is in bad need of some fresh blood to recover. Even the women's
program has fractures right down the middle and needs healing. It's my alma mater, I know one player on the men's side and junior has attended the
women's camp for 3 straight years but now the school is off the list with two 2010 GK commitments.

Any word yet about who the new mens coach willbe at Clemson? I know there has been some speculation on the NC site

Not sure I trust someone spouting names on a message board, who only has a few posts worth of history to go on. There's other folks on there with
better track records and known connections.
