Best summer camp for ? college bound...
First time here, and hoping for some insight. Do you soccer gurus have any thoughts on the best camp this summer for a boy, current sophomore, wants
to play D1, GPA 3.5? Thanks for any advice.

As a current sophomore, rising junior this summer, if he has D1 aspirations, he needs to look at the camps for the colleges he's interested in,
academically and soccer program. I don't believe some of the "Gypsy Camps" like Ralph Lundy have much bearing on college exposure. Better off to go to
the camp at a school and coach you want to play for and impress them.

camps
Just another dad’s perspective that is starting the process too:
I agree with the above poster, go to a college camp, not a Lundy style format. Go to a camp that is a serious possibility for your child.
If I could just add a couple things:
Before I shelled out the $500.00 to $600.00 to do the summer camp I would look to see if the college has a winter camp.
Not sure about boys????, but some girls teams have winter camps. If you are on the college’s radar already you will receive an email requesting the
athlete’s appearance at the camp. For girls this starts their freshman, for some, sophomore and Junior years mostly. If you are not invited, you can
find the winter camp on line. Sometimes the camps are hard to find. These camps normally run about $100 to $150 for a one or two day camp.
Normally, have 15 to 50 players at them. Sometimes the biggest summer camps have hundreds of kids there, all trying to impress the same coach. Head
Coaches run the entire winter sessions. Your child can go head to head against the kids they already like. Plus you can go to 3 camps for the cost of
1.
Good luck!

Good information, very true. You may find that the the cost for D1 boys winter camps is higher, but it depends on duration and if you stay on campus.
A three day, two night camp over a long weekend would be about $350 to $450. Exposure is excellant and the coach can recruit and talk personally to
the player as a junior.
During winter camps the students are likely to be on break, so you don't really get a feel of campus life. You may want to return for a visit when
classes are in session and the team is training together.

Some college programs do a spring camp as well, Friday to Sunday, for $150 to $200 or so. At this point, they're in the midst of their spring schedule
and it's pretty much real-world.

Lundy Camp
My son went to Lundy Camp for two summers. He liked it and thought it was a positive experience. It appears to serve as the College of Charleston Camp
for students interested in playing there.

Thanks, everyone for the advice, especially BoBo for the links. We'll do a college summer camp and look into a winter/spring camp for next year.
