We follow the region III girls. Last year we went to Costa Rica and leave for Germany and Holland at the end of the month. Costa Rica was the best
time we ever had. I Worry about the strength of the dollar in Germany this year.
The R1 UK trip was cancelled because of the volcano in Iceland. Did the girls make it to Germany? If so, how was that?

Soccer …….. Tattoo……. Skydiving ……..
Sounds like a fantastic experience. It had to be a great way to develop his soccer game, but more importantly his life experience over there is
something he will never forget.
Offered a professional contract? Stay in school?
What a great position for your son to have those choices! It is never a bad choice to get your education, especially at UVA. We are Hokies, but my
daughter is seriously looking at UVA. He must be a very gifted player.
Germany was good and bad.
Soccer was good, daughter lead in scoring and was named captain all the stuff a parent would hope for. The competition was pretty easy. (Actually,
too easy for a regional team to play.) She had a wonderful time. She and the girls took excursions, got to see the sights and watched a woman’s
professional semifinal game. (15,000 in attendance)
Travel was the bad for us. Someone tried to force his way into our hotel in the middle of the night. I was literally pushing on the door trying to
keep them out as they pushed back. I was able to shut and lock the door back. They had a key that opened my door. The front desk told me it was
drunken kids. However, the perpetrator did not say a word the entire time all of this was going on. I don’t know too many silent drunks and why would
drunken kid be able to open my door? Oh and food poising crippled both my wife and I for about half the trip.

Well, it was an amateur contract, not professional. There is a player from his former team that worked within the German system for about 1.5 years as
an amateur and recently signed as a pro. He is a very very special player.
Your daughter must be a very gifted player in that she leads her R1 team.
Wow, your ups and downs in Germany must have been exhausting. I can't imagine what what it must have felt like on your side of the door!!!
As for the food poisoning, could it have been bad sausage?

Still it is very impressive to receive the offer from the Europe based team. Not to mention playing for a NCAA D1 National Championship Team. WOW!
Good luck this year, we will be sure to follow the UVA team.
She plays for region III.
We think the pork got us. We should have stuck to the sausage. However, we did get home just before the valcano hit.

Curious now...how do the RIII girls match up with the other three regions in your daughter's age group?
On the boyz 93 side, all four regions were very competitive against each other during the last 4 years.

The Girls region teams play each other in Coral Spring each Thanksgiving. In the last two years
Region III is 1-1 vs. Region against Region I
Region III is 1-0-1 vs. Region II
Region III is 1-1 v. Region IV
In the one tournament they did together in Costa Rica where the four region teams played the four best professional clubs in Costa Rica
Region III went 3-1
Region IV went 1-0-3
region II went 0-4
region I went 0-4
The teams are very close, but region IV has my vote in the 94 age group. Those girls just seem to understand the game so much better. Region IV and
region I have the most National team players.
Do the boys have inter-regional each year? How is the academy cutting into the talent in OPD?

Academy has certainly divided the talent pool over the last few years. Most of the heavier populated areas have gone the Academy route, with a few
exceptions. ODP talent has wained a bit, but many of the 92's and 93's stayed in ODP.
The Regions square off against each other at Disney every year. R4 has always been strong on the boys side, along with R3. R1 won the event in
2009.
This year, the 93's, being the oldest age group, will travel to Santa Barbara Ca. to square off during the College Cup, December 10-12. The boys were
excited when they found that out last week at R1 camp in Kutztown. Call back camp is going on now right outside of Boston.
